To promote cooperative development of overseasChinese tests, Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban)provide certification services for overseas Chinese tests. Different Chinese tests are designed to serve different needs and users. To promote the Chinese teaching and learning, we extend our sincere invitation to those developmentteams of overseas Chinese tests for cooperation in the field of Chinese languageassessment. We hope to promote the Chinese language education via cooperation andmutual certification.
HNK
HNK is made up ofthe first phonetic alphabet of the phrase Hanzi Nengli Kaoshi (Chinese character test), meaning Chinese characters proficiency Test.
HNK is the only Chinese character proficiency assessing test certified by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters in South Korea. Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters, and the Korean-Chinese Association for Korean Language and Culture affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea are responsible for the organization of HNK. It is a specially designed Chinese character test for Chinese learners of the 21st century.

HNK encourages the learners to learn some Chinese words in their mother tongue at the preparation state, which allows for students to more accurately understand and apply their mother tongue, while they learn basic Chinese vocabulary and improve their learning efficiency.
HNK aims to cultivate the ability of non-professional Chinese learners in the cultural circle of Chinese characters, which will help them interpret new Chinese vocabulary. It also aims to enhance the motivation and interest of seasoned Chinese language students, and spark the interest of beginner students.
HNK Korea-China proficiency test for commonly used Chinese is divided into nine levels, including guidance, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth levels.
